Sussys Ceramics was created in 1983 with deep desire to explore my artistic talent while being able to stay at home with my three small children.
After years of watching sad faces when I went off to work each day,
I took a leave of absence from my dental assisting job, and took a leap of faith into the world of artists and creativity. I never looked back.
With my first order at a local gift store, and within the next few months, I found myself responding to inquiries from representatives across the country and more orders than I could have imagined. I was nurturing my dream and my spirit all at once. I designed things that I shouldn't have, pushed the production limits to their maximum, and created a dream that had previously seemed impossible!
The journey had begun and everyone was along for the ride. My children soon spent their after school cartoon time rolling clay grapes for .25 cents an hour and all the snacks they could eat. This was the humble beginnings of the elegant Grapevine Vineyard Collection. Over the years my boys grew into mini shipping experts when they weren't busy making forts out of boxes and popping the bubble wrap. My daughter became an expert detail painter, which she enjoyed more than a teenager would let on. Now twenty years later she has created her own line of Flip-flop Treasure Boxes.

And so, with all the lessons I have learned in 22 years of business, the greatest one is to, "Follow your Heart." And as my favorite Butterfly Box and Birds nest Plate inspire us to remember, "Sometimes you just have to take a leap and build your wings on the way down."
